Presentations:

Your presentation will be presented as a  conference style paper -- which means that as a presentation it should be original and compelling academic analysis (as opposed to report-style or teaching style). Reading time should be no more than 10-15 mins.

The essay proper should be approximately 6-8 pages double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1 page inch margins. Please include a cover page and a works cited page, and format the citations in MLA style. Please include a word count of just the essay proper. Please prepare 6-8 questions for the you to faciliate in class discussion afterwards.

Analysis of a single theme in the book you are analyzing. Anything less than 5 pages will not be accepted as a full submission. You may use quotes sparingly in this paper, and may use up to 5 peer reviewed academic sources. However, the thesis and analysis should be based your own original ideas.

Good use of and integration of primary textual materials from the early modern period which will elucidate the topic and not necessary for this assignment, but might provide useful context and will be considered favorably in the evaluation of your paper. Likewise, the use of contemporary or current theories, although not necessary, will be considered favorably in this assignment.
